Spikenard – Nardostachys jatamansi

Aroma – Heavy, warm, peaty, musty.

Therapeutic Properties – Antiseptic, antibiotic, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, calmative, sedatitve, anti-infectious.

Interesting Facts – Related to valerian. In chapter 12 of the Book of John in the Bible it says, “Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus.” Wealthy Roman women used it in beauty preparations.

If you can’t give it a rest at the end of the day, ask Mr. Spikenard to bring you a dream!
