Muchas gracias. Merci beaucoup. Arigatou gozaimasu. Thank you.
This past week my lil’ yogis of PS 3 gave a gentle reminder of the importance of being thankful. I just completed an eight week Children’s Yoga course with pre-k this past Friday, and at the end of our last class together the kids went one at time thanking me. As we were sitting in our circle the kids took turns, looked at me, and specifically thanked me. I got, “Salvador, thank you for teaching me chaturanga.” “Salvador, thank you for teaching me the sundance.” “Salvador, thank you for teaching me yoga.” Really awesome! Their teacher wanted to teach them closure, and not just one day I’m there and the next day I’m not. She sat them down, had them think about about our time together and for what they are thankful. As a culture, we don’t express closure, especially here in New York City where the pace of life is so fast and intense, and the “on/go” button is always on. These PS 3 kids are fortunate to have teachers like this.
I’m thankful to have had the opportunity to come to PS 3 every Friday and work with these awesome kids and dedicated teachers. My teaching and offering of this wonderful practice has deepened thanks to them. For what are you thankful?
